If you’re headed to the beach or pool this summer, you’ll need a swimsuit that’s going to keep you comfortable in the water. Swimwear comes in all shapes and sizes: You can choose from bikinis, tankinis, maillots, one-pieces and more.
What’s more, there are tons of different styles for every body type — whether you have curves or prefer something simpler! Here are some of our favorite swimsuits for women who want to look their best on dry land or in the water:
Bikini
There are a few things to consider then wearing a bikini:
Bikini tops: These come in halter, strapless, triangle, bandeau and more.
Bikini bottoms: High-cut briefs (like cheeky underwear), boy shorts that cover the bum entirely, Brazilian briefs that have minimal coverage at the sides and G-strings that leave absolutely nothing to the imagination. You can also get hipster bottoms that sit low on your hips and usually have a ruched pattern on them.
Patterns & colors: Stripes, polka dots or tropical prints? You can choose from patterns like chevron stripes and leopard print to wild animal prints like zebra stripes or tiger spots! Or maybe you’d rather go with solid colors like deep reds or light pinks instead?
Period Swimwear
Period Swimwear is a great option if you want to feel comfortable and confident while swimming, especially if you’re worried about leaks. There are several different types of period swimwear, including bikini period pants that can be worn without the need of pads or tampons. Many designs allow you to adjust the level of absorbency based on what works best for your flow. According to WUKA, you can “Wear them for up to 8 hours on all but your heaviest days.”
Monokini
If you’re looking for a swimsuit that can give you maximum coverage and comfort, you’ll want to consider a monokini. A monokini is a one-piece swimsuit that covers the upper body and crotch area. It’s often preferred over bikinis because it provides more coverage of your breasts and buttocks.
Monokinis are popular in Europe but are rarely seen here in America. They’re also known as “tankinis” or “mankinis,” since they can be worn by either women or men (in some cases). Wearing a monokini does not mean that you have to show off your body so much as it means that you don’t want to reveal too much skin while swimming on the beach!
Swim Dress
A swim dress is a one-piece swimsuit that covers the torso and the thighs. It’s similar to a dress, but it has an important difference: unlike a dress, it has a built in bra and bottoms. If you’re going to wear a swimsuit that looks like regular clothing no matter where or when, why not make sure your boobs are supported? And just think of all the pants you won’t have to go through when changing! While most women refer to this type of suit as “the best”, we’ve found that “swimdress” is more inclusive for men who want something more masculine sounding than “skirtini” or “skirtinito.” There are plenty of options out there for both sexes!
There are so many different styles of swimwear you can wear on the beach. From bikinis to one-piece suits, there’s something for everyone! It’s important to remember that even though your body may not look like someone else’s, there is still a swimsuit out there for everyone.
